Brian McFadden has told of his relief to be back in Ireland amid reports of a legal showdown over his children with troubled Kerry Katona.

As first revealed in the Herald, the former Westlife star has come home to spend time with his two daughters Molly and Lily Sue amid concerns over Kerry’s increasingly erratic behaviour.

He is expected to reveal all about the latest twist in the saga to Ryan Tubridy on tonight’s Late Late Show, where he’s apparently appearing alongside Sharon Corr.

After landing in Dublin Airport yesterday evening, following a dash back from Australia, Brian (29) wrote on his Twitter page: “It may be a long flight but its so worth it. such a nice feeling when your (sic) flying in over the beautiful irish coastline”.

He decided to fly back to Ireland just weeks after his last visit, following an incriminating video of his ex-wife allegedly snorting cocaine in her Cheshire home and her announcement that she’s going to write a tell-all biography.

The inflammatory drugs footage was taken on the same day that Kerry had collected their two young daughters after they had spent a three-week holiday with their dad in Dublin.

The Dublin singer, who was married to Katona for four years, is now said to be consulting his lawyers about fighting for custody for his children, such is his level of concern for their welfare.

Although he’s now based full-time in Australia with his fiancee Delta Goodrem, he has expressed his desire to have the children be brought up in Ireland, with his mum Mairead, who is said to be very close to her grandchildren.

Sources close to Brian say he has been monitoring Kerry’s actions very closely as her life takes a turn for the increasingly bizarre. As well as being cautioned by police over the leaked video, she is also accused of assaulting her accountant David McHugh after flying into a rage about her financial affairs.

Mum of four Kerry, who has an on/off relationship with husband Mark Croft, has now been dropped from her MTV reality show and has also lost her €300,000 contract with Iceland foods.
