KERRY Katona has DUMPED her heartbroken decorator boyfriend and told the News of The World: “I never loved him.”
The bankrupt star revealed she’d had enough of Adam Waldron’s DRINKING – and couldn’t afford the PETROL to go and see him. “I’m not sad – I’m relieved,” she said.
Kerry, 29, gave her painter the brush off after a whirlwind three-month romance so she can keep her squeaky clean new life on track.
The reformed cocaine user said: “I don’t want to be anybody’s girlfriend.
“For the first time in my life I feel like I can stand on my own two feet. I’m staying single.”
And she revealed she wanted to concentrate on caring for her four children and turning her life around after her messy split from husband Mark Croft five months ago.
“I’m just not in love with Adam – I never was,” she told us.
The split erupted after Kerry had a blazing row with her 33-year-old boyfriend last Sunday which ended with her fleeing to her mum’s house in tears.
On Friday night she changed her Facebook status to single and told fans on the social networking site: “Your life does not get better by chance, it gets better by change.”
On the same night, in a three-hour heart-to-heart with a close pal at her new home in Surrey, the former singer revealed that she was fed up with Adam’s BOOZING as she tries to crack down on alcohol.
And bankrupt Kerry also complained she couldn’t afford the PETROL to keep driving north to see him in her old home town Warrington. But her main reason for wanting to be on her own is her four children. The star found she couldn’t cope without them as Molly and Lilly-Sue went to spend time with their dad Brian McFadden in America while Max and Heidi were with Mark in Warrington.
“I can’t get into a serious relationship yet. Not so soon after Mark,” she told pals.
“I’ve been by myself for the last week and I haven’t been able to deal with it. It’s made me realise all I want is to spend my summer with my kids. I have missed them so much. I can’t be worrying about a man.
“I have to focus on my kids. I’m going to take them away on holiday now.
“It’s the first time I’ve been able to make a decision like this myself. I decided I just can’t split myself in so many ways.”
She said of Adam: “It all happened too quickly for me. I wasn’t ready. My life has completely changed and I just don’t have room for a man in it.”
Kerry – who made the decision to split with Adam on Monday – was reunited with Molly, eight, and seven-year-old Lilly-Sue yesterday after Brian, 30, flew them back home. She told her pals: “I didn’t want my kids to think I was intimate with Adam. I didn’t want them to see me in bed with him.
“I’m not at the stage where I’m ready for them to have to deal with a stepdad figure. It’s not fair on them after what they’ve been through
“I still really like Adam, I like his company and I want us to stay friends. He’s very upset about what’s happened and I feel terrible. I’ve told him, ‘You’ve done nothing wrong’.”
But heartbroken Adam didn’t help his cause by REFUSING to move south with Kerry as she tries to get her singing career back on track by signing with Peter Andre’s successful manager Claire Powell.
He said he didn’t want to be away from his mates back in Warrington.
And Kerry’s bid to keep the long-distance relationship going just added more strain to it.
She told a pal: “I have been spending too much money on petrol to Warrington. I’m so sick of the driving. I already have to take the kids up once a month to see Mark.
“But I hated having to put them all in the car constantly.”
And when she got to the flat they were sharing she had to deal with Adam’s boozing. A friend told us: “Adam did like a drink. He wasn’t an alcoholic or anything – but Kerry’s trying not to touch too much alcohol.
“She hasn’t given up altogether but cutting down was much harder when she was spending time with him.”
Another friend added: “She’s worn out from working all week and she doesn’t want to go out boozing all the time.
“Every night, he’s in the pub with his mates and she doesn’t want a man like that. She needs someone who is dependable and who will look after her and the kids, not a fella who wants to get drunk all the time. Kerry knows the next few weeks will be hard as they always are after a break up, but she’s determined to be strong.”
Pals say she has been getting over the split this week by stepping up her new fitness regime.
The friend said: “Her stomach is so toned. She keeps pulling up her top up to show it off. She’s loving training.
“It’s how she gets over a split. She did the same thing with Mark.
“She’s also going to spend a lot more time with her new friends in London. She’s realised she can be on her own and that it’s OK to be on your own.”
The reality TV star has also been keeping her spirits up with pals on Facebook. Gushing about her love for her kids she posted: “Some prefer diamonds or pearls, I prefer the most valued and rare around my neck… A loving hug from my children ”
Of having no man in her life, she wrote: “Relationships are like yard sales. They look really fun from about 100 yards away but then when you’re in one, its just more crap you don’t need in your life… .”
Finally, as she prepared for an early night, an introspective Kerry signed off with: “Kerry is going to that weird, twisted and demented place called my dreams. Be glad you’re not going. Only the strong can survive my mind. lol nite nite xxx.”
Kerry only ended her nightmare relationship with husband Mark Croft, 39, in February.
She met white van man and rugby league fan Adam on Facebook in May. At the time he was living with his mum and dad following a split with another girlfriend.
After exchanging messages on the social networking site, they arranged to meet for a coffee and things quickly developed into a full-on relationship.
By the end of the month she had declared her undying love for him. He is now back living with his parents and is so devastated that by last night he still hadn’t been able to bring himself to update his Facebook status from In A Relationship to Single again.
A pal of his told us: “Adam is absolutely gutted. He’s been on the phone crying. He can’t believe he’s let her slip through his fingers.
“Kerry was smitten with him at first and loved that he wasn’t interested in all the celebrity glitz and glamour and was a down to earth, hard-working lad.”
Even after the split, Kerry has hit back at suggestions Adam was only with her for her money.
She told her pal: “He was a lovely guy. He used to treat me to a lot and buy me lovely things. He bought me a whole lot of clothes before I went on holiday.
“The fact is, I’m only on a limited amount of money anyway because of the bankruptcy so he had to pay his own way. He would have made a really nice guy for me – it just wasn’t the right time.”
Happy
But she is adamant there is no way back for him. “I really like him and he’s really helped me. But I’ve made my decision and I’m not going to go back on that,” she told her friend. “I went back to Mark too many times, it’s not healthy. I hope to stay in touch with Adam but we’ll only ever be friends.
“There’s already too much water under the bridge. This is the new me. I’m a different woman.”
The new Kerry was at her Surrey home yesterday to welcome back Molly and Lilly-Sue as Westlife star Brian brought them back from their holiday in America. The family have not been photographed together for months.
A friend said: “She was so happy to see her babies again.
“Brian and Kerry patched everything up today. He was very supportive of her and she really appreciated it. But he didn’t stay.”
