THIS is the shameful moment slippery toad Mark Croft weaseled his way out of paying maintenance for his love child.
Along with wife Kerry Katona, vile Croft HID from the Child Support Agency (CSA) who were visiting to quiz him about his earnings.
Two investigators arrived on the doorstep of the couple’s Cheshire home on Thursday morning.
Cowered
But Kerry and Mark laid low inside after ordering their nanny to answer the door and pretend they were out.
A source close to the couple said: “Mark got their childminder to go to the door and tell the CSA staff he wasn’t in.
“He told her to say that he hadn’t received a letter about a visit. They then handed over a copy of the original letter demanding the meeting.”
Minutes later, after the CSA had left, our snapper caught the pair sneaking out of their home – soon to be reposssed – and jumping into a car for a quick getaway.
For 18 months, former cabbie Croft, 39, has been dodging paying for his four-year-old son, who he fathered just before meeting Kerry, 29.
Now Croft is facing a fraud probe after LYING to the CSA about his finances. He claims he earned NOTHING last year, despite bragging on TV that he took a 20 per cent cut of Kerry’s £1.5 million salary in 2009. And despite being a director of several companies, including a car valet firm, the Inland Revenue told the CSA Mark had NO income last year.
Croft has also ignored pleas from the mum to come to amicable agreement over payment for his child. A friend of the mother said: “It is so upsetting for her to see Kerry and Mark on TV and in magazines living the high life while he refuses to pay a penny to his son and pleads poverty.
“He’s driving around in a Hummer, while the mother of his child works every hour God sends trying to make ends meet. It just beggars belief.”
Cruel Mark – dad to Keeley, eight from an earlier relationship and Heidi, two, and Maxwell, one, with with Kerry – even turned his back on his boy during their MTV show, saying: “Sounds nasty but I don’t want anything to do with him.”
Mark’s solicitors were in talks with the CSA, but then the rat changed law firms so he didn’t have to cough up. He only handed over £800 last summer so he didn’t have to go to court.
The mum’s friend said: “There’s a possibility he will be investigated by the Inland Revenue and probed for fraud.
“It’s disgusting the lengths they’ve gone to to avoid paying towards that little boy.”
