Irish singer Brian McFadden has blasted his ex-wife Kerry Katona again, this time accusing her of living in a ‘fantasy world.’

The star has decided to publicly rebuke Katona after she accused him of only telephoning their two daughters – eight-year-old Molly and Lily-Sue, seven – five times a year.

McFadden now lives in Australia with fiancée, soap star turned pop singer Delta Goodrem.

He posted a furious rebuke at Katona on website Twitter after she made her claims in a newspaper interview – labelling her a ‘pig-faced mole’ before removing the comments and apologising.

But now, in an interview in the new issue of Reveal magazine, he has explained his actions and insisted his ex-wife – who has long battled cocaine abuse – is nothing more than a fantasist.

McFadden revealed: ‘Kerry lives in a fantasy world. It’s all absolute nonsense. She was making it up as she went along and didn’t care how hurtful she was being.

‘I don’t know why she said I only ring the girls five times a year. It can be difficult because of the time difference – when the girls wake up it’s the middle of the night here, but I ring my girls twice a week.’

McFadden, 30, and Katona, 29, met when they were both young pop stars – while he was with boy band Westlife and she was part of all-girl trio Atomic Kitten.

After falling in love, they married in January 2002. But they separated less than three years later in September 2004.

McFadden decided to speak publicly after Katona claimed in a newspaper: ‘He phones his girls around five times a year – but Lily doesn’t know who he is.

‘Brian has a new life in Australia. I’m just sad for him – he’s missing out on two amazing little girls.’

Angry McFadden says now: ‘I was upset and furious at Kerry’s claims. It came out of the blue.

‘I thought all that stupid war of words was behind us.

‘She obviously did it to justify the amount of money she was being paid to do the interview.’
