When a celebrity moves into the neighbourhood, all the locals are keen to catch a glimpse.

And when that new resident is Kerry Katona, they are sure to get their chance as she made herself highly visible in the picturesque Surrey village of Godstone.

The 29-year-old wasted no time checking out her new environs yesterday after moving into her new home, taking her daughters to the hairdressers before hitting the nearest Beefeater pub, the White Hart

It was just like being back in Wilmslow, Cheshire, as she and the family – and their ever-present camera crew – dined out for lunch.

There are a host of fabulous pubs in Godstone, the best of them close to its focal point, the cricket green, but perhaps Kerry fancied the £5.99 chargrilled steak and chips.

But one thing Kerry isn’t scrimping on is her new home.

At £3,500 a month, her rented barn conversion overlooks a picturesque duck pond and boasts the luxuries of seven-bedrooms, four en-suite bathrooms, a double garage, large living room and a reading room for her daughters to do their homework in

Located in a secluded area, the property is only a mile from the M25, meaning it will be easy for her to get into London to fulfil her media engagements.

Kerry decided to move to the south coast after ending her three year marriage to Mark Croft, the father of youngest daughter Heidi, three and two-year-old son Maxwell.

She is also nearer to her new PR company Can Associates, who are based in Horsham, West Sussex and her friend, pop star Peter Andre, who lives in Hove.

Kerry is now preparing to sell her £1million five-bedroom home in Wilmslow, which is thought to be heavily mortgaged.
The move is not without difficulties – her two eldest daughters, Molly, eight, and seven-year-old Lilly-Sue, will have to move schools

And ex-cabbie, Croft, 38, has expressed his annoyance, saying he plans to fight ‘tooth and nail’ for custody of their two children.

‘I’m no saint. I’ve done drugs, booze, wasted her fortune, you name it. All I want now is to see my kids. Without them, my life isn’t worth living,’ he said.

‘I’m skint, which is entirely my own fault. But I’ll fight Kerry tooth and nail over the only thing that matters to me now. God knows where I’ll find the money but, mark my words, I will.’

Croft told The People newspaper that Kerry’s move down south would be a disaster, both for her and their children.

He said: ‘I now face a four-hour drive each way every other weekend, down to some poncey part of Sussex (sic), where Kerry and her new advisers have decided she can reinvent herself.’
